- These figures are provided for temperatures between +23±2 ºC and for 50±5% relative humidity.
Surface Preparation:
The surfaces shall be clear of substances that may prevent adherence such as surface molding grease, dust, dirt, paint, detergent, etc. All water leakage and imperfections on the surface shall be repaired with Lanko 224 – Ertobloc or Lankorep 731 repair mortar and corners and sides should be chamfered with at least a diameter of 4 cm. If necessary, 1 kg K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228 should be diluted with 6 kg’s of water and applied as an undercoat with a roller or a brush. The application surfaces should be dry or damp-dry. No ponding should occur on the surface. Newly plastered surfaces should be cured at least 7 days before the application.
Application:
- K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228should be applied to the surface in one layer, and if necessary, in two layers with a toothed trowel (with a tooth depth of 3 mm) or flat trowel.
- After K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228is diluted with 10-20% water, it should be applied to the surface in two or three layers by a roller or a brush. Wait for 4-5 hours between layers. The required waiting time in between layers depends on the ambient temperature, surface temperature, and humidity and coating thickness.
- 10 units of K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228 and 1 unit of 52.5-Gray Cement can be mixed with 1 unit water and used for affixing of Thermal Insulation Panels with the help of a toothed trowel.
- For metal, zinc and galvanized products, 1 kg K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228 shall be diluted with 3 kg’s of water and applied as an undercoat to the surface. After the first curing of the material, the product can be applied to the surface in 1 or 2 layers.
- If another protective coating layer is to be applied on K10 Lankobitüm 1K 228, before the final layer is applied, the layer shall be sandblasted with Silica No: 1 sand, before it dries (while it is still wet). After the insulation material dries, the free sand on the surface should be wiped and cleaned and the surface shall be ready for the final coating process. Cement finish, plaster, gypsum or ceramic coatings can be applied onto the cleaned surface.
- For areas that will remain within the foundation and underground and to which this insulation product has been applied to should be protected with suitable boards and thermal insulation panels before filling.
- The product should not be applied under direct sunlight, rain and during strong winds.
Consumption: 1 kg/m²/mm thickness (application with a trowel)
0.6 - 0.8 kg/m² (two-layered applications with a brush)
2 - 3 kg/m² (for affixing of thermal insulation panels)
Storage Life:
The expiry date is 1 year from the date of production provided that it is stored in sealed (unopened) original package in a dry environment and has not been exposed to direct sunlight and frost.
Safety Precautions/Warnings:
- Use between +5 Cº and +35 Cº.
- Use protective clothing, gloves, goggles and masks during application.
- Surfaces that are not thoroughly dry should not contact water.
- Protect against freezing.
- Do not use the product under harsh weather conditions or when rain is highly possible.
- Do not use for surfaces that are exposed to negative water leakage.
- For outdoor applications, the surface shall be protected from sunlight, wind, freezing and rain for the first 24 hours.
- Wash the used tools with plenty of water after the application. The dried parts shall be cleaned with mechanical means.
- Wash with plenty of water in case of contact with skin and eyes. If it causes irritation, immediately contact a doctor.
