Surface Preparation :
General
- Plaster board, cement or OSB plates shall be fully embedded according to the instructions of the manufacturer.
- Screws and concrete inserts shall be covered with epoxy resin.
- The joints of plaster board plates shall be covered and closed with a plaster board netting at least 50 mm wide.
- All surfaces should be smooth and free of dirt, oil, curing materials and other contaminants.
- All movable parts should be removed and the possible dirt and dust that may be left over should be cleaned.
- All corners and sides shall be chamfered.
New Concrete Surfaces
- All newly poured concrete surfaces should be cured 6 weeks before K10 Dampflex is applied.
Old Concrete Surfaces
- All surfaces shall be cleaned thoroughly by a strong detergent and all detergent residues shall be cleaned by washing with a water jet. The surfaces shall be undercoated with Lanko 124.
- The surface shall be left to dry for 24 hours afterwards.
- Before applying K10 Dampflex, the surface shall be thoroughly examined and if any protrusions that may perforate the membrane are left, they shall be leveled.
Plaster
- Newly plastered areas shall be left for curing for at least 7 days.
Metal / Wooden Surfaces
- Make sure all surfaces are clear of rust and grease and are undercoated with Lanko 124, Geseras EM2 and/or PR6.
Cracks
- If thin capillary cracks exist and are immobile, they shall be covered with one layer of K10 Dampflex.
- Cracks wider than 2 mm shall be filled with joint filler.
- If there are structural, mobile cracks wider than 2 mm, they should be filled with a silicone based joint filler and should be taped with a 50 mm wide plastic tape.
- Afterwards, K10 Dampflex shall be poured over the tape in one layer and the surface should be left to be cured for 4 hours before the second layer is applied.
OSB, Concrete and Melamine Coated Panels
- Ensure all panel coatings are tightly clamped and fastened.
Application :

- Leave the first layer to dry for 1 hour. The second layer should be perpendicular to the second layer and shall be left to dry for 12 hours at 20o C (The product shall be applied at least in 2 layers. Any imperfections and if any, pores exist on the surface, then a third layer shall be applied).
- The surface shall be covered and protected with plaster or cement finish after K10 Dampflex is applied.
- Protective cement finish can be applied 4 hours after the final layer is applied for ground applications.
- The ponding test may be applied 24 hours after the application of the final layer.
- It is of utmost important to provide the right slope in order to prevent ponding.
